Writing and journalism occupied his attention when he was at high school. He published his first essays in newspapers “Pioneri Tojikiston” and “Shukhrati Asht”. Later, he started writing for a provincial printing outlet “Khakikati Leninobod”. In 1984 Mr. Karshibayev graduated from the State University named after Lomonosov in Moscow, Russia. Mr. Karshibayev embarked upon his career in the national newspaper “Tojikistoni Soveti” where he worked in different capacities – correspondent, head of section, etc. In the early 1990-s, Mr. Karshibayev received the position of deputy director of the Tajik Information Agency “Khovar”. In January 1998, he created a private news agency “Inter Press Service”. He also was one of the founders of the National Association of Independent Media (NANSMIT), and later, he became the director of the Association. In 2002 he was reelected. Mr. Karshibayev is a well-know media expert and human rights activist lobbying the interests of the Tajik media in government institutions. He is also an organizer of a number of national, regional and international conferences. He has a big experience as trainer, moderator and facilitator. Mr. Karshibayev is the author of numerous publications, studies and reports. |
